NAVFAC Pacific Announces Winners of 2013 Excellence in Federal Government Awards Program


Pearl Harbor – Several Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific top performers were named winners in the Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board (FEB) 57th Annual Excellence in Federal Government Awards program.

One team and five employees will be recognized for their significant achievements May 10 during an awards ceremony on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

“I am extremely proud of our employees’ contributions and exemplary accomplishments,” said NAVFAC Pacific Commander Rear Adm. Scott Weikert.  “While each member of the NAVFAC Pacific workforce greatly contributes to our mission, these individuals have demonstrated work above and beyond, and truly reflect selfless service and devotion to duty,” said Weikert.

NAVFAC Pacific 2013 FEB Excellence in Federal Government award winners are:

Supervisor/Manager of the Year:
Randall Hoffman (Public Works Business Line);

Federal Employee of the Year – Professional, Administrative, and Technical: Gene Matsukawa (Public Works Business Line);

Federal Employee of the Year – Clerical and Assistant: Barbara Samson (Public Works Business Line); Exceptional Community Service: Sandra Tanoue (Asset Management Business Line/Public-Private Venture Division);

Mentor of the Year: Paul Pollock (Financial Management/Comptroller);

Team Excellence: NAVFAC Pacific Diego Garcia Base Operating Support Contract (BOSC) Re-procurement Team (Public Works Business Line, Acquisition, Environmental Business Line, Asset Management Business Line, Financial Management and Legal Counsel).

The FEB Excellence in Federal Government Awards program recognizes outstanding federal employees for their efforts, leadership, and/or initiative. In addition, the program encourages innovation and excellence in government, reinforces pride in federal service, and helps call public attention to the broad range of services provided by federal employees. The program is an important form of recognition for federal employees in the Honolulu-Pacific area.
