Man goes missing while crab hunting, found dead hours later


The victim has not been identified by GFD says he is in his 50s.

Guam – A late night crab hunting trip ended in tragedy early this morning in the Pagat area.

Guam Fire Department Spokeswoman Cherika Chargualaf says it happened just before 4 this morning. GFD received a call of a man in his 50s who was lost while going crab hunting with his friend within the Pagat area of Mangilao.

Firefighters arrived on scene and began search efforts. But within a few hours of searching, Chargualaf says the man was discovered.

The victim was pronounced dead at around 5 this morning. The man’s identity has not been released.

Guam Police Department spokesman Officer AJ Balajadia says they don’t suspect any foul play at this time but will await the autopsy results before they confirm. Medical Examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola says he will be performing the autopsy on the victim tomorrow.
