Padilla makes history as first female Guam Guard Infantry Officer

Guam Army National Guard 2nd Lieutenant Sheryl Padilla was initiated into the U.S. Army’s Infantry branch on April 11.

Guam - At a 'Turning Blue' ceremony held last week at Fort Benning, Georgia, 2nd Lieutenant Sheryl Padilla of the Guam Army National Guard’s 1st-294th Infantry Regiment was initiated into the U.S. Army's Infantry branch. Padilla made history by being the first female infantry officer from the Guam Guard to complete the four-phase U.S. Army Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course (IBOLC).

Padilla will assume the role of Platoon Leader for Alpha Company, 1st-294th Infantry Regiment, upon her return to the Guam National Guard.
