Politician and landlord: Sen. San Nicolas found in conflict of interestWritten by Rebecca Elmore
Guam - Another lawmaker in the crossfire for conflict of interest violations: Senator Michael San Nicolas, who received notice of the violation from GHURA. The rules chairman says he has been a Section 8 landlord for seven years prior to his service as a senator.
In February of this year, GHURA notified the democrat lawmaker and his tenant of the violation and San Nicolas says he's since taken the appropriate steps to divest himself from that position.
In a statement to PNC, San Nicolas wrote, "We are saddened to be losing such a wonderful family, but we will absolutely comply with any findings that need to be addressed.” San Nicolas says effective April 30th, the contract between him and his tenant will need to be discontinued.
