Guam High students will perform in their production of the satirical musical, Bye Bye Birdie, on March 17 and 18.

Guam - This is DoDEA Guam High School’s second musical production under the direction of drama teacher Romina Sotomil and music director Chad Hunter, with student choreographer, Anyarin Moulthrop. The school's first musical was last year's production of South Pacific by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Opening night is tonight at 6 p.m. at the Guam High auditorium in Agana Heights. Bye Bye Birdie is a musical satire, based on a book by Michael Stewart (music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Lee Adams), about a famous rock ‘n roll singer who joins the army.

The principal cast features GHS students Travis Aguon (Conrad Birdie), Hailey Jones (Rose Alvarez), Joseph Zeigler (Mr. MacAfee), and Lynn Vick (Ursula Merkle).

The production promises a high-energy musical score and a hilarious script.
