GPD searching for suspect in Yona store robbery

The Guam Police Department is searching for a man who robbed a store in Yona late Thursday morning.

Guam - According to GPD Spokesperson Capt. Kim Santos, at about 10:50 a.m. yesterday, a robbery was reported after a man armed with a machete entered the New Yahweh Market in Yona and demanded money. He fled from the store with over $500 in cash, fleeing on foot towards the rear of the store.

The suspect is described as a male, possibly local, between 5’7” and 5’9”, wearing a light blue long sleeve shirt, faded black jeans, a black mask, a light blue baseball cap, and black shoes with white soles. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is asked to call the Guam Police Department at 472-8911, or Guam Crime Stoppers at 477-HELP.

    I'd like to see all store owners equipped with tasers or pepper spray so that they can protect themselves in the even of a robbery. I'd even like the idea of store owners being trained on the use of a firearm. If someone wants to come into someone's business and do harm, they'll need to think twice before doing so.
