Guam Air National Guard says farewell to airmenWritten by Rebecca Elmore
Guam - The Guam Air National Guard bid farewell to the 254th Airmen yesterday during a send-off ceremony.
A total of 19 members of the 254th Security Forces Squadron and the Comptroller Flight joined their families at the Guard's Readiness Center for an official farewell before their upcoming deployment. According to Brigadier General Roderick Leon Guerrero, the deployment requires a huge sacrifice made not just by the airmen, but by the families they'll have to leave behind.
"Soon this group of brave men and women will board a plane and leave behind their families, their employers, and their lives on Guam and head into harm's way. For this reason, we must stand together and remain ready to support these airmen and their families throughout their deployment,” he said.
Currently, there are already nine deployed airmen serving overseas and will joined by members from the 254th Squadron who are scheduled to leave in the coming weeks and will be deployed for approximately six months.
