GVB confirmed that there have been over 7K cancellations for the fall months alone.

Guam – Last month would have been Guam’s highest record of tourism arrivals, but unfortunately, tension with North Korea has caused a slight decline in visitors. To combat this, the Office of the Governor is calling to “arm the Guam Visitors Bureau with the resources they need.”

Last month, Guam welcomed a little over 140 thousand visitors –which is a slight decrease when compared to the previous year.

In a press release from the governor, GVB confirmed that there have been over 7K cancellations for the fall months alone.

GVB estimates that the total amount of cancellations resulted in an estimated $9.5 million loss for Guam.

In the month of August, visitor arrivals from Japan declined to 13.9%, but luckily, the South Korean visitor arrivals helped cushion the decline with little over 58K visitors to Guam.
