The Education Jobs Fund can be used to rehire or recall former employees, pay teacher and administrator salaries and benefits, retain existing employees, and can be used to ensure vital educational and related services are provided for students.

To apply for the funds, an application must be signed and submitted to the U.S. Department of Education no later than the "statutory deadline of September 9, 2010." Cruz has found that as of today, the application for the Education Jobs Fund remains on the Governor's desk awaiting his signature, just a day before the deadline.
