Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault Hosts “Unite to End the Violence” Outreach SATURDAY

Guam - To commemorate International Women’s Day, the Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault & Family Violence (GCASAFV) and its community
partners will hold a community outreach event at the Guam Premier Outlet center court on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
This event is an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of women and to highlight their needs and concerns, especially overcoming assault of any kind. Statistics show that from January to December 2012, there has been 488 arrests related to family violence, sexual assault and stalking. 65.1% for family violence, 31.1% for sexual assault and 3.8% from stalking.
“Unite to End the Violence” provides an opportunity to call on women and men everywhere to take action on the issue of violence against women and girls.
Through this event, themed “Unite to End the Violence,” the GCASAFV invites the public to find out more about local service providers whose goals include addressing family and sexual violence. There will be table displays where representatives from each agency will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Established in 2006, the Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (GCASAFV) is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which aims to address sexual assault and family violence on Guam with one united voice.
GCASAFV’s mission is to identify and address the community needs, provide access to services, and promote cultural sensitivity for all victims of sexual assault and family violence by raising community awareness and building the capacity of member service providers through education,
outreach and training. Membership is compr ised of service providers, government allies, and community partners.
