Guam - Administration Spokesman Troy Torres has issued the following statement in response to criticism from Senator Ben Pangelinan over the Calvo Administration's decision to appeal the Permanent Injunction requiring the payment of tax refunds within 6 months.

"This judgment would have been useful during those 20 years that tax refunds were not paid on time. But that's not the case anymore. Governor Calvo did what was right without a court order and got us caught up on refunds, with Status-A payments made within six months."

"There is nothing absurd about managing our finances without the overreaching arm of the federal government. There is nothing absurd about protecting taxpayers' money from excessive attorneys fees. That is money that can go to other services and obligations."
