Guam - The Department of Public Works is using an innovative paving process to complete part of the Rt.4 near the Ylig bridge in Yona.
The project involves the recycling of pavement in which old pavement is removed , recycled and then used to repave the road.

This process is being used for the stretch of Rt. 4 that runs from the Rt. 17 or cross island road intersection to the Ylig bridge.
"They have milling equipment out here today and what they're essentially doing is they're milling out the old asphalt that was here in the existing roadway using concrete as a stabilizer and re-using the material as you can see behind us that they will compact back in the roadway for base material and then re-surface it with asphalt,” said DPW Director Joan Brown.
She says that this stretch of road should be completed in about three weeks time.
