Guam - Traffic Advisory for September 17 - 23, 2012

Route 1/ 8 (Hagåtña Bridges)
Night work scheduled from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. at the Hagåtña Bridge construction area may continue this week.  Drivers should expect lane shifts and/or detours and are urged to seek alternate routes avoiding the area during these times.  The contractor will be driving the piles necessary for the continuing reconstruction of the Hagåtña Bridge and the lane shifts and detours are for the safety of all motorists.


Route 1/11 (Port Authority Road, Piti)
The eastbound outer left turn lane of Route 11 at the intersection at Route 1 will be closed to traffic through September 29.  The inner left turn lane will remain open for left turning motorists.  Also, drivers turning from Route 1 onto westbound Route 11 will encounter lane shifts and narrowed lanes through September 29.  Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.


Route 4 from McDonalds to Route 10
Paving on Route 4 is complete.  Lane closures may occur during the week as the contractor continues to adjust manholes, install signs, and mark the roadway. Signage as well as safety and traffic personnel will be in place to ensure the safety of the workers and travelers in the construction area.  Motorists are asked to use caution and to observe all construction signs and posted speed limits.


Route 4 Ylig Bridge (Yona)
Construction work on the bridge abutmentson the Route 4 Ylig Bridge continues this week.  Due to the proximity of the construction work to travel lanes, intermittent traffic delays and lane closures may be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. The temporary bridge and detour remains open to traffic with a posted 15 MPH speed limit. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.


Route 4 (Pago Bay to Route 17)

Road construction continues on Route 4 from Pago Bay to Route 17. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and to be aware of traffic control signs posted along the construction area.

Motorists traveling northbound and southbound on Route 4 between Ylig Bridge and the Route 17 intersection will experience intermittent traffic delays and lane closures at various locations due to resurfacing of the existing pavement.

Construction crews will remove existing pavement and install a cement-treated base including laying of new asphalt pavement, weather permitting. Construction activities will be scheduled between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will continue for at least 30 days or until work items are completed.

Motorists traveling through this area should anticipate delays and are advised to proceed with caution and to obey traffic signs and flaggers.

Route 7A (Hagåtña)

Route 7A is open to two-way traffic; however this area remains an active construction zone.  Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and obey all traffic control signs along the site.

Route 17 (Talofofo)
Drivers can expect short delays and increased travel time as road construction work on Route 17 continues this week. Signage and safety personnel will be in place to ensure the safety of travelers.

Taleyfak Spanish Bridge (Agat)
Motorists traveling in this area can expect brief delays while the contractor continues to work in this area.  Please be aware of safety personnel directing traffic as construction equipment moves across the road or trucks enter or exit the job site.
