Guam - The Republican Party is pushing for a Republican majority in the legislature in order to bring in more support for the military buildup

Republican party chairman Mike Benito spoke to the Rotary club of Northern Guam today saying that the Republican party is in support of the military buildup as it will boost the island economy and create more jobs for the people of Guam. Benito believes that the current democratic leadership had a lot to do with the current pause on the military buildup.

"I wanna say that a hundred times we are in support of the military buildup we are in support of the military buildup done right though i mean obviously it has to be in the best interests of the people of Guam if you're gonna have a buildup we've gotta make sure that our local businesses can take advantage of it that can be a part of it you've gotta make sure that there is employment for our people here on Guam for our small businesses to take advantage of it absolutely we have to do that but are we in support of the military buildup absolutely 100 percent and we will get this thing done,” said Benito.

The Republican party chairman told Rotarians that a Republican controlled legislature would also work on developing opportunities for the island's small businesses.
