Subway, Dominos, & CPK Make Liberation Parade Brighter for GPD Officers Working the Route
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 23, 2012
Lt. Governor Tenorio wants you to know that Subway, Dominos, and California Pizza Kitchen are big supporters of the Guam Police Department. They donated food on Liberation Day to the men and women of GPD, who were on duty to ensure the safety of Guam’s largest annual gathering.
“I used to work that beat,” Lt. Governor Tenorio said. “Believe me, it can be a thankless job trying to provide law and order in a gathering of tens of thousands of people. But these men and women of GPD do it without expecting any thanks. They know this is a big day for Guam and they want to do their part to make it a safe celebration. I’m so grateful to Subway, Dominos, and California Pizza Kitchen for doing their part and taking care of the officers.”
The donations were made possible through the foundation the Lieutenant Governor and his wife, Attorney Naoko Shimizu, started, The Works! Foundation. The Lieutenant Governor’s Office also helped to coordinate the donations and the delivery of hot meals on the equally hot day.
“If there’s something we can learn from the commemoration of Liberation Day, it’s that we can all give back to our island in one way or another,” Lt. Governor Tenorio said. “Governor Calvo put me in charge of public safety, so I’m going to do everything I can to take care of our men and women in blue, and all our public safety officers in the executive branch.”
The Lieutenant Governor added he’ll be ordering take out from the three sponsoring restaurants for his lunch over the next couple weeks.
