Car Hits Power Pole; Causes Power Outage in Yigo; No Word on Injuries, Yet

Guam - A car crashed into a power pole this morning in Yigo, causing a massive power outage.

There’s been no word on the condition of the driver, or details of the collision.

GPD Spokesman Art Perez tells PNC News that the vehicle was a Honda Accura.

Witnesses say the vehicle hit the guy-wire" creating sufficent strain on the concrete pole to fracture it, causing the outage.

Perez says the "concrete pole exhibited clear damage to mid section and will have to be completely changed out."

The accident happened near Mark's Hardware on Marine Corps Drive in Yigo.

GPA crews have been working on the outage since 6:45AM.  

It covers a large area from the accident site toward Chalan la Chance through to the Yigo church.
