DOE Confirms Start of School Pushed Back to Monday August 22

Guam – The Department of Education announces that the start of School Year 2011-2012 will be moved one additional week to Monday, August 22.
The new start date and orientation day for teachers will now be Friday, August 19.

The Guam Board of Education approved the decision late today collaborating closely with the Guam Federation of Teachers and the Calendar Committee during a work session.

The move is necessary to provide sufficient time to ensure all cafeterias are ready and in top condition for the start of classes.

There will no lapse in pay for teachers. The Christmas break will begin December 19 and school will resume January 3rd.

Education officials apologize for the inconvenience. Our administrators and staffers are working hard to prepare our schools and we ask for your understanding.
